Twice a year, the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam invites a visual artist to develop a site-specific work that engages with the architecture and history of the building. In 2024, visual artist Navid Nuur (Tehran, 1976) presents the solo exhibition When Doubt Turns into Destiny. In this exhibition, Nuur invites visitors to experience the church through different senses. He distills the history of Amsterdam’s oldest building into sensory experiences that connect to the present moment; engaging with sight, smell, sound, earth, air, and light.
