Florentina Holzinger (1986) is an Austrian choreographer known for creating innovative, high-energy, award-winning dance productions. Her work explores the female body by examining its societal roles and physical potential, while integrating disciplines such as ballet, opera, stunts and martial arts.
Holzinger studied choreography at the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) at the Amsterdam University of the Arts. Her graduation solo Silk won the Prix Jardin d’Europe in 2012. Between 2011 and 2015, she collaborated with Vincent Riebeek on a trilogy. Her 2019 production TANZ won multiple awards, including the Nestroy Theatre Award for Best Direction. For the Ruhrtriennale 2021, Holzinger created A Divine Comedy. Her 2022 production Ophelia’s Got Talent, was developed during her artist residency at the Volksbühne in Berlin. Holzingers' first opera project SANCTA premiered in 2024. In the same year, she starred her first leading role on the cinema screens in the movie MOND, directed by Kurwin Ayub, which won the Special Jury Prize at the Locarno Film Festival. In 2026, Holzinger will join the artistic board of the Berliner Volksbühne, and she will represent Austria at the 61st edition of the Biennale Arte in Venice.
To support Holzinger’s artistic development and international visibility, Ammodo is supporting her first opera production, SANCTA, which premiered in May 2024. Ammodo also supported her work at SPRING in 2020-2021.
