SPRING is a cutting-edge international performing arts festival that takes place annually in Utrecht for ten days in May. Their focus is on experimental and interdisciplinary work. The festival supports the development of new work by co-producing and presents stimulating work from all over the world. Performances presented by SPRING are often innovative and disruptive, inspiring other artists through their specific focus and quality. Since 2017, SPRING has presented SPRING in Autumn together with the Stadsschouwburg Utrecht, aimed at increasing public outreach and impact of the festival.

The 2022 edition was the first led by rtistic director Grzegorz Reske, who succeeded Rainer Hofmann after ten editions. Instead of ‘flying in’ artists from outside Europe for short periods, Reske aims to invite artists from European border regions, especially from southern and eastern Europe, as well as European artists from diverse cultural backgrounds.
