With the new exhibition series Call and Response (called First Double 1 & 2 in 2024), Kunstinstituut Melly presents a double solo exhibition twice a year.

The series title is inspired by an improvisational technique widely used in jazz music, where one musician offers a phrase, sound, or tone, and a second musician responds immediately. In this way, they build upon each other’s input, creating a sound that is both inventive and collective.

Each edition features two internationally renowned artists presented simultaneously, who develop new works responding to a rapidly changing world.
