In 2023, Buro Stedelijk was established as a new platform for emerging artists and designers, housed within the Stedelijk Museum itself. Led by curator Rita Ouédraogo, Buro Stedelijk serves as a bridge between the studio, educational institutions, galleries, and the museum. It is a multidisciplinary space where curators, artists, and other creatives have the freedom to develop and present new work, providing a fresh impetus to contemporary cultural production in Amsterdam.
The umbrella term ‘manifestations’ is utilized to encompass all projects initiated by Buro. Any activity, be it exhibitions, talks, symposiums, essays, or performances, is considered a manifestation. Buro Stedelijk features a central project space located within the Stedelijk Museum's premises. Manifestations unfold not only in the Central Space but also extend to the Studio Space and elsewhere in Amsterdam and beyond (Offsite), catering primarily to a national audience while considering Amsterdam’s international connections.
