Pauline Curnier Jardin (Marseille, 1980) is a contemporary artist who combines various artistic disciplines to create visually striking and thought-provoking artworks. Much of her work explores the role of women in mythology, history, folklore, and cinema—roles that have traditionally been depicted in a stereotypical manner, such as the saint, mother, witch, or mystic.
Through her work, she advocates for these women, and for those who identify as women, who face various forms of exclusion, as well as structural and systemic violence. Her layered and often humorous installations provide space for reflection on the complexities of gender and the representation of the female figure in contemporary society.
Ammodo has supported Pauline Curnier Jardin’s work through her solo exhibition at the Centraal Museum in 2023 and at the Venice Biennale in 2017.
