Nora Turato (1991, Croatia) lives and works in Amsterdam. Using various media, she plays with the speed of language and the ready-made vocabulary of the internet. Her material is gathered from a wide range of sources: a collection of words, phrases, fragments, and quotes from film, advertising, literature, everyday conversations, theatre, and social media. Fragments of these texts find their way into posters, prints, and artists’ books, but also form the basis for her carefully written performances. Her work reflects on today’s hectic (internet) culture. Turato plays with social codes and the rules surrounding language and signs, reflecting in her work on the fast-paced (internet) culture of today.
Ammodo supported Nora Turato's work through In Situ at the Stedelijk Museum.
