Nicole Beutler (1969) is a choreographic theatre artist and artistic director. She studied visual arts, German literature and choreography at the SNDO (Amsterdam University of the Arts). Over the past twenty years, she has made a significant impact on the Dutch performing arts scene, since 2009 as the artistic director of her own company Nicole Beutler Projects.

Beutler allows the body to speak in many ways—through dance, opera, urban arts, (live) music, text-based theatre, puppetry and visual art. She works across genres, creating theatre as a Gesamtkunstwerk. With her inquisitive approach, she continuously incorporates new influences, expanding the boundaries of what dance can be. Her work has received numerous awards, including the VSCD Mime Prize (1: SONGS 2009 & 8: METAMORPHOSIS 2020/2021) and the Dioraphte Prize (SHIROKURO 2014). In 2018, Beutler was awarded the Gieskes-Strijbis Performing Arts Prize for her body of work. She also won the Music Theatre Now Prize 2021 for 8: METAMORPHOSIS.

Currently, Beutler is working on a large-scale trilogy titled RITUALS OF TRANSFORMATION, exploring the future of humanity and the planet. Each production examines a different phase in the transformation, searching for a new balance between humans, animals, objects, and nature. The first part, GINKGO, premiered in 2022, followed by ATMEN in 2023, with the final part, Now We Are Earth, planned for 2025.

Ammodo has supported Nicole Beutler through her productions Now we are earth (2025), ATMEN (2023), 8: METAMORPHOSIS (2020/2021), 7: TRIPLE MOON (2017) en 6:THE SQUARE (2016). Ammodo Docs also produced a short film about her.
